Nice clean room in a big hotel, but not large room, but includes coffee & cookies. Lots of TV Choice, but much is pay.
They ate at 2 PM, today, there was a Perkins with a Senior Steak. (Bob Evans is for later). They had dessert for the first time, Wildberrry Pie for Nick, Coconut Creme for Bernie, but the creme was thick and hard, like icing.
There is even some snow in the woods, but the trees are greening up; no flowers yet.
Almost a collision. There was a Blue Heron on the entrance ramp, Nick slowed down and the Heron went into the swamp.
They drove around the St. Augustine outlets, but nothing was appealing enough to stop.
The shower control in Brunswick was odd. Nick can’t read the signals, but he can test it. It seemed plumbed in backwards to him.
The shower here is roll in, but there is no bench.
We got connected to Norma, who is home. Three way calling didn’t work on the first try, and I didn’t want to make them uncomfortable, so I did it the old way; two calls on two lines, speakerphones on and close together.
Maybe sandwiches tonight.
Maybe.

Brunswick
Well, they decided not to go to the food court next door to the hotel, because it was in the big ol’ truckstop, so they went to Waffle House. Bernie had a real BLT, though in January it was light on the Tomatoes, though the bacon and toast made up for it.
Much better than the BLT at Mickey D’s earlier in the day, which had chicken. It was like a hamburger. But the black woman cleaning the john helped Bernice in and out, so that was nice. And the McDonald’s had free WiFi, but Nicholas hasn’t touched the laptop yet.
It seems to Bernice that people are nicer this week. Obama Hope? Maybe.
Nicholas was somewhat shaken to hear they found feathers and soft body damage in the right engine, the one that didn’t fall into the Hudson. He was working on a theory that it failed under stress. He loves unique failures in jet engines.
We will see who replaces Gillibrand in this district, and fascinated about Bruno; they are in his old district too.
Tomorrow, Orlando. Even shorter drive than today, so Nicholas is getting some rest after two hard days.

I’m off the phone with them.
Tricky through Norfolk, but good driving. Â A good view of Portsmouth; Bernice’s fault.
Bernie is sore from getting up from her fall yesterday, sides and all. First noticed it eating breakfast, but going to the john this morning was hard.
Nick did get lunch from the black deli; he couldn’t understand the gal behind the counter, but she was very nice. Â The guy with the chained bike said goodbye.
They split a BLT Chicken salad and Frostys at Wendy’s. Â Nick’s milkshake was too thick.
Ruby Tuesday had too many cars, but Nick liked the Tilapia at Shoneys, though Bernice thought she would like Patty Melt better but the bread was soggy. Â The buffet was just too daunting to chalenge, even if it was only $9. Â The bleached blonde waitress left them with a wish for a blessed evening.
The room is good — two double beds — but still a tub not a shower. Not even a bench in the tub. Â Will wash tommorow, maybe.

Salisbury
Lots of drama today. They can’t see signs, had trouble getting from 17 onto the Turnpike in NJ, and had a few go arounds to get into the hotel. But it’s new, nice and clean, and the $9 senior shrimp skewers at Denny’s in the parking lots came with nice vegetable medley and salad. (I’m hoping it was a senior meal, not senior shrimp.)
The big drama was Bernice collapsing with the walker. Her steel knee gave out — never happened before — and she fell to her knees. Nicholas was pleased the walker hit a post; if she didn’t the walker would have slid out of her control. She doesn’t keep her hands in the brake loops like I taught her, you know.
Nick got the chair and some men helped her into it, and she’s still with the chair. She got cold, but that’s OK.
The black bag is located after falling into the foot well, and Nick is going out to get the cooler; apples and cream.
Mark called at 10:30 and 5:30 checking in, so when they called at 7:55m I called him with the number and they talked to him, though his cheap phone was hard to hear. I called them at 8:30 to get this debriefing, and call again at 8 AM for Bernice wakeup.
But Nicholas was he made me show him the map last night, even if he didn’t look at it again today.
